Okeanus Science & Technology Redmond

Okeanus provides the oceanographic professional with all of the tools necessary to complete a project on time and on budget, no matter the water depth or location. The company is recognized as an experienced industry leader in the design and build of oceanographic winches, handling systems, LARS, buoys, and other products.

Meet Ted Brockett, Director

“With offices in Redmond, Houston and Houma, Louisiana, we have become one the industry’s leading providers of reliable marine equipment. Engineering and Design is currently done in Redmond.

“Our customers include universities, such as Washington, Hawaii and Oregon, government entities including the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration and the U.S. Navy and Air Force, and defense contractors.

“Our innovative equipment was also used to help find the wreckage of the Titanic, the World War II German Battleship Bismarck, and USS Central America.

“Founded in 2013, Okeanus is an established engineering and production group for marine equipment and components such as winches, launch and recovery systems, deep sea pressure housings, A-frames, sheaves, cable management systems and other custom deck equipment. Okeanus also offers an extensive pool of leased equipment, including our own winches and handling but also a wide variety of scientific and survey equipment, all of which can be deployed at a moment’s notice.

“Okeanus’ winches are designed to withstand the extremes of harsh marine conditions and to support a wide range of research and data collection applications for researchers, operators and contractors.

Applications include CTD, hydrographic survey systems, sediment sampling and geophysical work, metocean data collection,  launch and recovery, and environmental monitoring, among many others. LARS applications include deployment and retrieval of ROVs (remotely operated vehicles), AUVs (autonomous underwater vehicles), towed bodies, oceanographic instrumentation, and other equipment.

“We’re incredibly busy and are very optimistic about the future of our marine business. We’re growing and looking for additional team members.”
